THE PRESENT SIMPLE

Usage:
  • The present simple is used to describe regular actions or habits. It is often used together with the adverbs of frequency like: always, sometimes, often, rarely, hardly ever, never. These adverbs of frequency always precede the main verb.
  • E.g.: I often play tennis.

  • The present simple is also used to talk about events in the near future. these events normally are scheduled events like for example train departure timetables, etc...
  • E.g.: The train leaves at 7 p.m.

  • The Present simple is also used when we talk about scientific facts or things that are always true.

    E.g.: Water boils at 100ºC.
